Essential Oils: and Their Relevance to the Bible

NEWLEY UPDATED!!! WITH MORE STORIES OF PLANTS AND HERBS IN THE BIBLE.

The Bible is the most read book in the world and it still fascinates readers with new and current information today. Everything we see around us is connected to the Bible and in the cycle of life, the biblical times are not so far back. Trees that have been planted many hundred years ago are living among us with the same energy that they had in the time of the Bible.

Essential oils have been used for remedies, medications, and pleasure since humans have been on earth and developed awareness. We have many beautiful trees, plants, and flowers living with us and it is a privilege to enjoy them today after someone else planted them well before our lifetime. One of the most beautiful legacies we have on this earth is the amazing trees we see and take for granted. Planting long-living trees such as Olive, Pine, Cedar or Acacia is a gift for the next generations, just like the old trees we see today planted generations back for our pleasure.

A parable from the Talmud:

One day a righteous miracle worker, saw an old man planting a carob tree. Knowing that a carob tree took 70 years to bear fruit and that therefore the old man would not live to see the results of his labor, he asked why he was planting a tree whose fruits he would never enjoy. ‘Carob trees were here when I was born, planted by my father and his father,’ answered the old man. ‘Now I plant trees for the enjoyment of my children and their children’s children.’” (Talmud Ta’anit 23a)

In Judaism it is forbidden to uproot and destroy a tree after it has been planted, we are told that we can cut them down to a stump, but their roots must stay in the ground forever. In this book I have found the relevance of 108 trees and plants from around the world to the Old Testament Bible, it is amazing how much access we have today to what the people of the Bible had.

“When you besiege a city for many days to wage war against it to capture it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them, for you may eat from them, but you shall not cut them down. Is the tree of the field a man, to go into the siege before you?” Deuteronomy 20:19

We learn from trees many things, like patience, strength, faith, and love.
